Toxic Substances in Engineered Plastic Waste...Comply with
WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) and RoHS
(Restriction on Hazardous Substances) Directives
Plastics contain
a wide variety of additives that are used to enhance physical
properties, such as fire/heat retardation, color, hardness,
and durability. Many of these additives, developed years
ago, contain elements now deemed harmful to the environment
(Pb, Sb, Cd...). Other additives simply prevent recycling,
or are detrimental to the recycling process (Br, Cl...).
In addition, the European Union's (EU) newer RoHS and WEEE
directives require recyclers and manufacturers to provide
verifiable evidence that reclaimed plastic materials and
newly manufactured plastic products do not contain restricted
substances.

Automated
Sorting with QXR-P
The QXR-P automated
sorting and separating technology is a unique combination
of optical and EDXRF discriminators. This continuous online
system is capable of classifying up to 15 different material
types per line, while synchronizing with a variety of diverting
mechanisms.
The
QXR-P is designed to process more than 15 tons per hour.
Operating at belt speeds up to 300-400 ft/min., the QXR
is capable of piece IDs in a s few as 50-100 milliseconds
with over 99% accuracy.
