The Problem:
A seasoning manufacturer receives 3,000 to 4,000 different
raw materials to manufacture its custom seasoning blends.
The ingredients can come from just about anywere - India,
Israel, and local US farmers. The wide range of materials
received made it an ongoing challenge to maintain superior
quality. The company proactively addressed "tramp metal"
contamination before it became a problem with customers.

Eriez E-Z Tec® DSP Metal Detector & Eriez Rare Earth
Magnets

The Solution: Eriez Rare Earth magnets were
installed to remove ferrous and weakly magnetic metals from
the process. The Eriez E-Z Tec® DSP Metal Detector was
installed at the end of the packaging line to inspect final
packaged products.

The Result:
"Industry standards are to find metal pieces from 1.5
to 2.0 millimeters in size, but the equipment allows us to
catch contamination much smaller than that," says Damon
Gambino, "Plus, these products enable us to pinpoint
and eliminate both ferrous and non-ferrous metal contamination,"
he adds. The innovative metal detection equipment is proving
to be a sound investment for the seasoning manufacurer.
